Why You Need a Bedtime Routine
If you've never kept a healthy bedtime routine before, now is the time to start.
Sleep is a necessary function that helps your body and mind to rejuvenate, allowing you to wake up feeling refreshed and alert. Healthy sleep also aids in the body's wellness and illness prevention. The brain cannot operate correctly if it does not get adequate sleep. This is guaranteed to make it difficult to focus, think clearly, or remember things. Every night, most adults require 7-9 hours of sleep. Our brains, like our phones and computers, need to be recharged and given time to process the day's events.
If you don't enjoy sleeping, creating a routine around your sleeping habit might be advantageous. Before bedtime, for example, take a cup of (caffeine-free) herbal tea or listen to soothing music. Another helpful tip is to have a book near your bed; even if you only read a few pages or a chapter, it will help you relax.
Install a dimmer in some of your bedroom light sources since light is one of the factors that might impact our sleep. Bright, white lighting will subconsciously trick your brain into thinking it's daytime and that you should stay awake. Warm light sources that may be dimmed to make them less bright will, on the other hand, aid to relax your body before bedtime.
Make sure you pay attention to what you eat and drink as well! Make sure you're not hungry or stuffed before going to bed. Avoid eating anything heavy or big within a couple of hours of going to bed. It's possible that your discomfort will keep you awake.
