Us humans tend to be dissatisfied with what we have. We long after having more, learning more and suddenly our brand new clothes, car or watch isn’t enough. What really is happiness? The dictionary definition of happiness is “the state of being happy”. The term is used in the context of mental or emotional states, which equals positive or pleasant emotions ranging from being satisfied to feeling intense joy.
To an individual, happiness might be something entirely different than to their neighbour. To some, happiness is achieving your goals and getting a raise. To another person, happiness might be a good book or having enough time to pursue their hobbies.
Happiness is not an object or a place. It is a state reached by taking steps towards a, for us, fulfilling cause. Happiness is reached when we move forward in a specific direction that allows us to be true to ourselves. This also includes our morals, even when everyone else may be following a separate, generic path.
